If you ever believed that choosing stainless steel bollards or fixtures was cut and dry, let me assure you it is not. Millerbernd has had over 70 years of fabricating hundreds of products out of a dozen different grades of stainless steel for use in many extreme environments. We believe we have the industry's best hands-on knowledge and experience in recommending when high corrosive resistant stainless steel grade 316 should be used in place of 304. "316" refers to the level of chromium and nickel in the stainless steel. The addition of 2% molybdenum is what makes 316 very corrosion resistant and much better suited for salty, harsh and weathered environments. Exposure to the elements isn't the only consideration—after all, if you're going to invest in LED technology that lasts for 60,000 hours - shouldn't your fixture last at least that long? Realistically though, every location and situation is unique. Questions like: "What is the lifespan of the project" or "Is the project budget flexible?" need to be answered before a decision can be made. We know stainless steel and how to match your project requirements with your budget! Larry Biske, Division Manager |
