Marine Pier Lighting

Project Overview

In 2011 Millerbernd Lighting along with Quad-J Electric worked closely to address the customer’s needs in creating an environmentally conducive and cost-effective custom solution. The object was to provide adjustable area lighting for a Navy refueling structure including ancillary lighting for pier signage.

Taking into consideration the marine elements, unique mounting criteria and required photometric layout, we designed a unique solution by modifying existing Millerbernd catalog fixtures to match this specific marine application. The Navy refueling pier structure had issues with salt/corrosion as well as maintenance access issues.

Project Solution

Millerbernd Lighting was able to create a salt and corrosion resistant solution utilizing series 316 stainless steel in the design and fabrication of custom poles and adjustable mounting arms. Along with these features, we incorporated custom architectural standards that utilized hinged bases to ease of maintenance access when replacing the lamp or ballast.

Project Results

The detailed drawing submittals were approved by the project engineer with slight changes noted for the final project detail. The custom solution exceeded the expectations of the client and created a unique pier lighting package constructed of Series 316 stainless steel utilizing custom designed poles and proven UL approved and time tested Millerbernd Lighting Fixtures—creating a quality, cost-effective solution.
